Habits of Lifelong Learners

November 1st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

1. Which habit(s) are most challenging for you as you participate in this online course?

View problems as challenges: I find this one challenging because I become easily frustrated when “things” don’t seem to be working smoothly with technology. Like most of us, I have had these experiences where I go online to perform what I think will be a short, easy task, and it turns into a massively time consuming problem. I often feel pressed for time & so  I have a hard time viewing problems as opportunities for learning.

2. Which habit(s) are most comfortable for you as you engage in this course as a lifelong learner?

Accepting responsibility for my own learning. Outside of technology, I view myself as an active & independent learner. This identity & confidence has helped me re-frame the above and approach the course with the attitude that part of my job is to troubleshoot & solve problems independently and not just rely on a tech expert.

3. Which habit(s) will be most important to you as you work through the tasks in this course and begin to apply your learning to your professional life?

View problems as challenges: Again, I think reframing this is essential. I hope to approach technology with more confidence.  The ultimate goal for me is to become adept at accessing technology that will inform & improve my curriculm.
